Tariq Ramadan

Tariq Said Ramadan (born 26 August 1962 in Geneva, Switzerland) is a Francophone Swiss Muslim academic and scholar.

His maternal grandfather Hassan al Banna founded the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. His father, Said Ramadan, fled Egypt due to the persecution of that organization, and settled in Switzerland. Tariq Ramadan studied philosophy and French literature, obtaining two doctorates, in Philosophy and Islamic studies. He also studied Arabic and Islam at Al Azhar Islamic university in Cairo, Egypt. He later held a lectureship in Religion and Philosophy at the University of Fribourg and the College de Saussure, Geneva, Switzerland. In February 2004, he accepted the tenured position of Luce professor of religion at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, USA. However, in late July 2004, his visa was revoked by the State Department, and he was forced to resign the position. [1]. Though the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) declined to provide a specific reason for denying the visa, they explained that the Patriot Act allows the government to ban foreigners who “espouse terrorist activity.” But it never asserted that Ramadan did so, and has denied making any judgement on Ramadan whatsoever, specifically distancing itself from its earlier statements in a court deposition. T h e D A Y o f W R A T H, by Shaykh Safar al-Hawali

Author's Introduction

All praise belongs to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the final Prophet:

The contents of this booklet are glad tidings to the oppressed people of the occupied territories particularly, and to all Muslims in general. However, it was not written to give them glad tidings, the Quran and the Sunnah are sufficient for that purpose. Any other source has limits to its reliability and therefore cannot be the basis of Muslim belief, in contrast to what is supposed by some Christians, Jews and Muslims. No, this booklet was written only to outline terms for engagement with the theoretical foundations of Zionism in its two facets: Jewish Zionism and Christian Zionism, the enemy which has distracted the world, and filled the airwaves as well as books with talk of Biblical Prophecy -especially since the latest intifadha. The study of prophecy is one of the subjects of futurist studies, except that prophecy contains that which is authentic and that which is not. The reader deserves to hear the final verdict on this all-important subject, and the Muslim reader especially deserves to have the reserves called out for this long, vicious battle. The reserves in this case being the topical study of the doctrinal foundations of the enemy's psyche and behavior from his own sources which are the spiritual foundation of his faith in his cause. When doing this we are not in actuality producing anything new, but are only following the example of the Quranic methodology that teaches us to go back to the scriptural sources in order to prove our case and compel the falsifier:

'Say, 'bring forth the Torah and read it if you are truthful'

The Sunnah Online

Sunnah (Arabic: سنة‎ ) literally means “trodden path”, and therefore, the sunnah of the prophet means “the way of the prophet”. Terminologically, the word ‘Sunnah’ in Sunni Islam means those religious actions that were instituted by the Prophet Muhammad during the 23 years of his ministry and which Muslims initially received through consensus of companions of Muhammad (Sahaba), and further through generation-to-generation transmission. According to some opinions, sunnah in fact consists of those religious actions that were initiated by Prophet Abraham and were only revived by Prophet Muhammad.

The Qur'ān [1] (Arabic: القرآن al-qurʼān, literally "the recitation"; also called al-qurʼān al-karīm "The Noble Qur'an"; also transliterated as Quran, Koran (the traditional term in English), and Al-Quran), is the central religious text of Islam. Muslims believe the Qur'an to be the literal word of God (Arabic: Allah) as revealed to Muhammad, over a period of twenty-three years by the angel Gabriel and regard it as God's final revelation to humankind.

Question: Some who are seeking knowledge are very hasty in giving rulings in matters of halaal and haraam, and this is a common noticeable defect. What is your advice to such people?

Al-Albaanee’s reply: “We have spoken on this issue long before, and we said that Allaah the Wise has divided the Muslim community into two types of people: the Ahl adh-Dhikr, and those that depend on the Ahl adh-Dhikr. As Allaah says to the ordinary people: “then ask those who possess the Message (Ahl adh-Dhikr) if you do not know.” (Soorah 21:7 and 16:43)

The Ahl adh-Dhikr are, as we all know, are the Ahl al-Qur’aan and the Ahl al-Hadeeth, those who know the authentic from the unauthentic, the general from the specific, the abrogating from the abrogated, and other such principles of Fiqh and Hadeeth.
